At AmeriClean, we understand that you want to maintain your carpets and upholstery over time---not only with professional cleaning, but also with regular at-home cleaning. After all, your carpets and furniture are investments--why not make the most of them?
With that in mind, we've put together a few tips for you:
Clean entrance mats regularly by vacuuming them or shaking them out. The entrance mats should help keep dirt from showing up on your carpet--not serve as a place where dirt collects and gets tracked into your home.
Vacuum regularly. Some manufacturers suggest vacuuming daily, but once a week is most reasonable for many families, depending on the number of people and pets who live in the home, how much traffic specific areas get, and other factors. Regular vacuuming actually helps preserve your carpet and upholstery by removing dirt that can otherwise wear fibers and fabrics.
Clean up spills immediately. If you spill something and need an emergency spot remover, try a solution of original Dawn® dishwashing liquid diluted in 32 oz. of water. Use a terry towel or microfiber cloth (only use white towels--using colored towels may transfer the color to your carpet or upholstery) to blot the spot--don't soak the carpet too much--and then follow up by blotting with a mixture of one part water and one part white vinegar to remove residue.
Get regular professional cleaning. Regularly scheduled cleaning will help your carpet and upholstery last longer, and deep soil extraction with professional steam cleaning can do the job most effectively.
Have Scotchgard™ applied after every professional cleaning service. Fabric protector wears with regular foot traffic and vacuuming, and the most effective time to reapply Scotchgard™ is immediately after professional cleaning.
