Get Ready for Spring. Cold Weather Keeping You Indoors?
A Clean Home is a Happy Home! AmeriClean Newsletter - February & March 2009
Make the most of this winter’s time indoors by getting organized. When spring arrives, you’ll have a lovelier living space and more time and energy to get outdoors and enjoy the sun!
Try these tips from Julie Morgenstern’s book Organizing from the Inside Out:
1. Sit in the space you’d like to get organized and take stock—why do you want to organize this space? How would you like to use this space? What can you throw away? What’s holding you back?
2. Then, thinking about the main functions for which you use your space and sketch out an arrangement for activity zones—places in the space where you’ll sit, or cook, or store papers, for example. Estimate how long it will take you to organize your space. Morgenstern suggests that an average room can take one to one and a half days, with a home office taking three to four days.
3. Finally, break the job down into manageable time slots and days---and write work session times and days on your calendar. Remember, you don’t have to do everything in a day!
The important thing is to get started. If you start with one room, you’ll feel less intimidated and may be more likely to continue until your whole home is more comfortable. Why not get more organized today?
