***FIRST THINGS FIRST***
1. Call AmeriClean without delay.
Water damage can be very destructive. It is very important to get the water removed as quickly as possible and to begin the drying procedures. Drying carpet and padding can be accomplished if the water is removed promptly and the correct drying procedures are implemented quickly. The walls and structure of your home or business need to be tested for water damage, addressed as necessary and monitored until no moisture is detected.
Depending on the hour of the day, it can take some time to dispatch our technicians. The sooner you call, the better. We’ll work directly with your insurance company and help guide you through the process.
2. Call your insurance company.
Check your policy to see if you have coverage for your particular emergency. Be sure to get a claim number from your provider. Tell them AmeriClean is arranging a service call to assess the situation and begin re-mediation. We will be in direct contact with your insurance company throughout the process.
3. Remove your belongings.
If the water is "clear water", meaning not a sewage backup, start removing items that are in the subject area. Water travels in the paths of least resistance. It’s not just in immediate visible places. Look along walls and underneath everything. Carpet can often be salvaged in a clear water damage situation depending on the response time of the home or business owner. Be sure to remove all items from the carpet if it’s wet. Wet furniture legs and pegs can leave stains and rust spots on carpet.
CAUTION: In the Event of a Sewage Backup
Use caution in the event that you have a sewage backup or overflow.
Raw sewage is full of bacteria and should be handled by a professional.
DO NOTHING BUT REMOVE YOURSELF, KIDS AND PETS FROM THE CONTAMINATED AREA
AND CALL AMERICLEAN IN TO GET THE SEWAGE OUT!
Be prepared
Know where your main water shut off valve is before an emergency happens. If a pipe or hot water heater bursts, an extra two minute delay can result in 30 or more gallons of spilled water. That is roughly the equivalent of a bathtub full of water. That much water inside your home or business can cause a lot of damage. Being able to find the shut off valve and a wrench quickly can save you thousands of dollars in damage.
Call AmeriClean as soon as the emergency occurs. We’re here to help. We’re trained, certified, and approved for insurance claims.
